• Hyaluronic acid - a natural biopolymer involved in the formation of connective tissue, belonging to the group of glycosamicans. Naturally produced in the epidermis by keratinocytes in small amounts and in larger amounts in the dermis by fibroblasts, it retains water inside the cells and tissues, facilitates the circulation of body fluids, influences the processes of skin regeneration and renewal, ensures the proper functioning of the network of protein fibers in the skin responsible for elasticity, flexibility, density and volume and is a precursor for the formation of new collagen and elastin fibers and leaves a "protective film" on the skin against evaporation and moisture loss.
• AH-49 (acetyl hexapeptide-49) - ahexapeptide that reduces irritation and the feeling of skin pinching and burning. It is an inhibitor of PAR-2 (proteinase activator) receptor activity up to 80.1%. It activates keranocyte mediators to fight inflammation. The PAR-2 receptor is present in large amounts in keranocytes and sensory neurons, and is activated by enzymes in, for example, plants, mites, inflammatory cells such as trypsin or tryptase, and by non-enzymatic components that cause the release of inflammatory cytokines like IL-6 and IL-8 in keranocytes and anti-inflammatory cytokine CGRP in sensory neurons, which is closely associated with skin burning. It reduces pain, reduces redness, pinching and burning, as well as the feeling of "burning" and steaming of the skin, reduces inflammation (contact dermatoses), strengthens protective barriers, counteracting the abrasion of the epidermis, which reduces the amount of lipid cells beneficial to atopic skin.
• Licorice extract (root extract Glycyrrhizaglabra) - contains saponins, flavonoids and organic acids, thanks to which it has water retaining properties in tissues, and thus moisturizing and soothing properties of the skin. Therefore, licorice-based cosmetics are recommended for owners of dry, sensitive and vascular skin (as it reduces skin redness and strengthens blood vessels). It soothes skin inflammation, irritation and itching. It accelerates the healing of wounds and eczema. It is also an antioxidant.
• Urea - It is a component of NMF, the skin's natural moisturizing factor. A decrease in its concentration results in dryness and irritation. Urea itself makes up to 1% of the epidermis by weight, and there is up to 7% by weight of it in NMF. It has long been used to treat topically infected wounds because of its antiseptic and exfoliating effects, which help healing by removing dead tissue. It is a moisture-absorbing substance. In concentrations of less than 10%, it moisturizes strongly, attracting water molecules and retaining them in the skin. Keratin can bind more water in the presence of urea than without it. It is known for its antibacterial and antipruritic activities. Its anti-inflammatory activity, resulting from anyproliferative and antigranulative activities, helps fight acne. Urea at a concentration of 15% accelerates the breakdown of fibrin. In general, in concentrations above 10%, urea softens the skin and increases its permeability, allowing other active ingredients to penetrate deep into the skin. For the topical treatment of follicular keratosis, hyperkeratosis and eczema, carbonic acid diaamide is used at a concentration of 20%. Urea is also used as a skin exfoliating ingredient. The use of 40% urea produces a proteolytic (keratinolytic) effect due to the dissolution and denaturation of proteins. For the treatment of dry, flaky skin, it is used in concentrations as high as 50%. Urea is also present in preparations that alleviate the early symptoms of skin complications in diabetes.
• Vitamin E - the largest antioxidant, antioxidant and antiradical substance. Participates in the maintenance of normal connective tissue, as it protects proteins, collagen and elastin, as well as cell membrane lipids from free radicals. It counteracts oxidative stress in tissues and promotes proper repair processes occurring in the skin. It also neutralizes superoxide radicals and singlet oxygen.
